St Peter's Morley
Community Centre Building Project

We're excited to announce that we are in the early stages of St Peter's Morley Community Centre Building Project.

Currently St Peter's Parish Hall is a well-loved building, being the community hub for many groups and organisations who come to us throughout the week. However, as more and more community groups want to use the space, and our Church family continues to grow, we know there is lots to be done to ensure the building is fit for purpose. We want to invest in an already well-loved space to develop and improve our building, so that we are creating an even better space to bless the community in Morley. We are excited to launch this project as we focus on rebuilding and reshaping 'St Peter's Community Centre'.

First Steps

On Sunday 19th June we held a Gift Day at St Peter's Church, in order to raise the architects fees of £5,500. We are incredibly thankful that we were successful in raising the amount, and now have been able to proceed with the process.

An initial meeting has happened with some of the team and the architect, Alexa. The next steps are involving collecting data and speaking to the community about their ideas.

Consultation

On Sunday 25th September we gathered together with some of the church family, hall users and members of the community for a consultation led by our architect, Alexa.
There was a great buzz in the room with lots of brilliant ideas generated.  It was also lovely to see the children's enthusiasm about the potential of the new space. The architect has taken all our thoughts and ideas and will produce a summary which will be used with the results of the community centre questionnaire to inform our overall needs analysis.  Once this has been finalised and approved at the Parochial Church Council it will be shared with the architect to start to draft plans.  These will hopefully be ready at the start of next year for us to review and decide on a final design which can be costed to determine the amount of money that needs to be raised. We will host another event early next year to share final plans with those that are interested.
